Understanding the flow of any system is important, if not essential to any user experience. Flow charts are a perfect tool to illustrate that.
Understanding the user and what type of user will use your system is a very important detail. How will you know what to design if you don't know for whom that design is?
Mock-Ups help illustrate how the final product will look before actually spending time building the system. I like to use Figma to create mock-ups.
